With effect from Monday, September 19, 2011, the U.S. Consular Exchange rate will be adjusted to INR 50 to a US$ from the existing INR 47 to one US$.

This revision in the exchange rate will affect the INR equivalent for all the non-immigrant, immigrant visa and citizenship services application fees paid on or after September 19, 2011. Effectively, the new non-immigrant visa application fee is and INR 7,000 (equivalent to USD $140 for non-petition based visa categories) and INR 7500 (equivalent to USD $150 for petition based visa categories). Applicants who paid the fees prior to September 19, 2011 can use the HDFC receipts as long as one year has not elapsed since purchase of the receipts.
