Subscribers to Murthy India Bulletin may be aware that one needs to create a profile and schedule an appointment through https://www.ustraveldocs.com/in – the official visa information website of the U.S. mission in India. U.S. non-immigrant visa applicants in India may already be aware of the frustratingly long wait for most categories of U.S. visa appointments.

Now, this appointment system keeps track of the frequency of attempts to schedule or reschedule an appointment and locks the applicant out of the calendar for 24 to 72 hours if the applicant tries to schedule or reschedule an appointment too frequently. One should not attempt to schedule or reschedule if they see a warning, indicating there are too many logins and that the applicant should complete the process in the current attempt. Once locked, contacting the agent will not help and the applicant will have to wait for the calendar to be automatically released. While scheduling an appointment or monitoring the calendar for availability of earlier dates, it is important for applicants to remember the restriction and use this feature diligently.

We will continue to monitor and provide updates if there is any improvement in the wait times or if there are any other changes to the visa application system.
