Non-Immigrant Visa Applicants are Permitted more Number of Cancellations of Visa Interview(s)

Subscribers to MurthyIndiaBulletin and regular visitors to MurthyIndiaDotCom are aware that a new visa interview system was introduced in September 2012. Under this system, we understand that one is permitted to cancel the visa interview up to six times. This information was shared by the visa helpdesk and no official information or update on this is available. We would not recommend cancelling visa interviews as much as possible. Before a non-immigrant visa applicant cancel’s an appointment, it is important to check with the helpdesk and ensure that the applicant does not face any restrictions to schedule a new appointment.

Technical Glitch while Booking Language Interviews

Over the past few weeks, local language interviews are reflected as “English” on the visa interview letters. When contacted, the visa helpdesk indicated that this is a temporary technical glitch and applicants can proceed further to the consulate with the same interview letter, and that the applicants will be provided an interpreter in accordance with the language selected at the time of scheduling the visa interview. If this happens, it is advisable to contact the helpdesk by email and obtain a confirmation on this matter in writing to avoid possible confusion at the visa interview.
