On September 20, 2021, U.S. President Joe Biden announced that travel restrictions imposed on foreign nationals entering the United States will be relaxed, starting November 2021. Our readers are aware, that earlier this year, President Biden had further tightened the travel restrictions put in place by President Trump and restricted entry into the United States by non-citizens who have in the prior 14 days been physically present or transited the United Kingdom, European Union, China, India, Iran, Republic of Ireland, Brazil and South Africa.

From November 2021, these broad country specific bans are likely to end for fully vaccinated travellers. Starting November 2021, fully vaccinated travellers should be able to travel to the United States. Such traveller need to carry the following:

(1) Proof of vaccination against COVID-19.

(2) Proof of negative result of COVID-19 test taken within 3 days prior to travel.

Additionally, fully vaccinated passengers will not be required to quarantine. The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will also require airlines to collect contact information from international travellers to facilitate tracing. At the time of this writing, particulars of vaccines that will be recognized for the purpose of travel is not clear. We will continue to monitor and bring you the latest updates on this matter.
