A recent update on the Consular website indicates that effective September 1, 2013, all immigrant visa applicants from India are required to complete the new immigrant visa application form DS-260. This new electronic version of the immigrant visa application form replaces the paper based form DS-230 (Part I and II).

The Principal Applicant, Attorney, Petitioner or Third Party Agent can login at https://ceac.state.gov/IV using the National Visa Center (NVC) case number and Invoice ID to complete these forms. It may also be noted that this form can be completed partially, saved and retrieved later. Upon completion, the applicant will only need to present the confirmation sheet and not the entire form at the immigrant visa interview.

Some Immigrant visa applicants, may still not be required to complete this new form. In such cases, when they login at https://ceac.state.gov/IV, the link to complete form DS-260 will be disabled.
