Pursuant to Section 402 of Public Law 111-230, an additional filing fee of US$ 2,000 for certain H-1B petitions and US$2,250 for certain L-1A and L-1B petitions was introduced. Subsequently, another Public Law was passed on January 2, 2011 that extended the fees for filings until September 30, 2015. This law has sunset and effective October 1, 2015 certain H and L petitions that previously required an additional filing fee of US$ 2,000 / US$ 2,250 no longer require to pay this.  This fee change holds good for Blanket L applications made at any U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad. This official notification can be found here. This fee is still listed on the official website of the U.S. Consulate in Chennai. However, representatives of Murthy Immigration Services have contacted the Visa application Center over phone and confirmed that this fee is no longer applicable. This comes as a great relief to certain employers who previously had to pay this additional fee.
