Following a U.S. Presidential Proclamation issued on December 18, 2025, the U.S. Mission to India has announced updated closure dates for the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi and all Consular Posts across India.
Revised Holiday Schedule
In addition to the previously scheduled closure for Christmas Day on Thursday, December 25, 2025, the U.S. Embassy and all U.S. Consulates in India will now be closed on the following dates:
- Wednesday, December 24, 2025
- Friday, December 26, 2025
The Mission is scheduled to resume regular operations on Monday, December 29, 2025.
Impact on Visa Appointments and Note to Applicants
- Notification: All non-immigrant visa appointments originally scheduled for Wednesday, December 24, 2025, and Friday, December 26, 2025, will be rescheduled. The U.S. Embassy/Consulate will contact affected applicants directly via email or telephone to provide a new interview date.
- No Action Required: Applicants generally do not need to initiate the rescheduling process themselves; however, we strongly advise monitoring the email address associated with your visa profile (including spam folders) for official communication.
- Processing Delays: Due to these additional closures, applicants should anticipate potential delays in passport processing and the return of documents via courier services.
