Until now, there was no service charge or fee at the U.S. Consulates in India for collection of documents from one of the Visa Application Centers (VAC) or from one of the document-collection centers. Premium doorstep document delivery was offered at INR 500 (per package).

Effective August 17, 2021, the U.S. consular posts in India will offer free pickup only at the VACs located at New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, or Kolkata. For pickup of documents from one of the other document delivery centers located at Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bengaluru, Kochi or the Blue Dart hold at locations, a service fee of INR 650 (inclusive of taxes) is applicable.

Fee for premium doorstep delivery has also been revised to INR 650 per package (inclusive of taxes) effective August 17, 2021.

If an applicant wishes to change the document pick-up location or if s/he wishes to opt for premium door-step delivery, s/he can do so up to 11:59 p.m. on the day of interview at the U.S. Embassy or consulate.
