Additional Modes of Payment Introduced for U.S. Visa Fee Payments in India

Most visa applicants are required to pay a Machine-Readable Visa (MRV) to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate as part of a U.S. Visa application, whether a visa is issued or not. This fee is non-refundable, non-transferrable and will be determined by the kind of visa being applied for. This fee must be paid in Indian Rupees based on the set consular exchange rate.

Individuals Exempted from MRV Fee Payment

• If a A or G visa for official travel is being applied for, the applicant need not pay the MRV fee.
• If a J visa to participate in a U.S. Government-sponsored program is being applied for, the applicant need not pay the MRV fee.

Modes of Fee Payment

First, a profile must be created using this link . Upon creating a profile, the applicant should select the Schedule Appointment option. On the payment confirmation screen the applicant will be presented with payment options and further details of how to initiate payment. It should be noted that it can take up to 1 business day from time of payment for the receipt to be activated.

National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT)

The applicant can pay the visa application fee with a NEFT transfer directly from their bank account. An NEFT payment can also be made through online banking or mobile banking. Upon logging into the profile and while on the payment confirmation screen, the applicant will receive a unique account number and other details to which the NEFT payment must be made. Applicants should be certain to delete the account details from the payee list once the visa payment is successful to avoid an erroneous transfer of funds in the future.

Unified Payments Interface (UPI)

The applicant can pay the visa application fee via UPI transfer using their smartphone. After logging into the profile and while on the payment confirmation screen if the applicant selects UPI, it will directly take them to the payment page where they can select multiple options like Paytm or Google Pay.

Debit Card / Credit Card

The applicant can pay the visa application fee using their RuPay, Visa or MasterCard Debit Card or Credit Card from their system or even smartphone. After logging into the profile and while on the payment confirmation screen if the applicant selects Debit Card/Credit Card, it will directly take them to the payment page where they can pay using any credit or debit card issued in India.

AXIS Bank / Citibank

The applicant can pay the visa application fee in cash at any of the designated AXIS or Citibank branches < https://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/en/payment-locations>. However, before going to the bank, the applicant must print and carry the applicable U.S. visa fee collection slip available after logging into the profile. The applicant must take the completed fee collection slip to the bank when they pay the fee. After receiving payment, the bank will give the applicant a receipt. Values are shown in (USD); however, the fee payable is in Indian Rupees (INR) at the current consular exchange rate.

DRUK bank

The applicant can pay the visa application fee in cash at any of the following DRUK Bank branches < https://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/en/payment-locations>. Before going to the bank, the applicant must print and carry the applicable U.S. visa fee collection slip available after logging into the profile. The applicant must take the completed fee collection slip to the bank when they pay the fee. After receiving payment, the bank will give the applicant a receipt. Values are shown in U.S. dollars (USD); however, the fee payable is in Bhutan Ngultrums (BTN).
