HDFC Visa Fee Receipt to be deactivated if applicant does not
show up for interview

In an attempt to prevent misuse of the nonimmigrant visa
interview appointment system, the U.S. Embassy New Delhi has
recently notified that if an applicant does not appear for a
visa interview appointment, the HDFC Visa Fee Receipt will be
automatically deactivated. Following this, the applicant will
not be able to book another appointment using this Receipt. If
the applicant has a justifiable reason for not showing up for
the appointment, s/he should visit the nearest VFS U.S. Visa
Application Center along with his/her passport and the
"two-page" HDFC Visa Receipt and request that the receipt be
reactivated. If VFS is convinced about the reasons for not
showing up at the appointment, the VFS reactivates the
applicant's receipt, and the applicant will be able to book
another appointment through VFS.
