Back to Updates
A recent update on the VFS website indicates that the ‘reschedule’ option for the visa appointments has been withdrawn by the US Embassy/Consulate effective from July 16, 2007. This means that a US visa applicant can no longer reschedule the appointment and the only option available is to cancel the existing appointment and schedule a new appointment.
Previously the ‘Reschedule’ option allowed one to postpone the appointment once and one had to cancel and reschedule only if they wanted to advance an interview date. But now both advancing and postponing of visa appointment can be done only after canceling the existing appointment.
The risk involved in such process is that the applicants may loose their current visa interview date in this process. The update also points out that that the scheduled interview appointment can be cancelled only twice and on the second cancellation, the PIN will be blocked for a period of 90 days. Effectively the visa appointment can be cancelled only once and this should be used with care.
This information has been updated in the VFS website and can be viewed by visiting
VFS
website.
Another point of concern is that visa interview dates in most of the US Consulates in India are again backlogged by several weeks. Interview slots in regional languages are practically unavailable for the past several weeks. We are Murthy Immigration Services (P) Ltd., strongly recommend you to plan your U.S. travel well ahead and apply for a visa early.
