Back to Updates
Starting from April 30 2007, English-speaking visa applicants
from the Chennai Consular District can no longer apply for a
tourist visa at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi. This
information has been updated on the VFS website and can be
viewed by clicking
here.
This notification clarifies that Business and BEP applicants
from the Chennai consular district can continue to apply for a
visa at the U.S. Embassy, New Delhi. This update carries a note
for student visa applicants, reminding them that they need to
apply for a visa only at U.S. Consulate General, Chennai.
Further, this notification confirms that English-speaking
nonimmigrant visa applicants from Mumbai consular district
(except students) can apply for a visa at the U.S. Embassy, New
Delhi by scheduling an appointment through VFS system.
It may be noted that we had
reported that the U.S. Embassy,
New Delhi in a notification in December 2006 had indicated that
English-speaking nonimmigrant visa applicants could apply for a
visa at U.S. Embassy in New Delhi or US Consulates in Mumbai or
Chennai.
