Consulates in India adjust exchange rates with effect from May

The US Consulates in India have adjusted the exchange rate to Rs.
44 to one US$. The visa application fee was revised to US$ 131
with effect from January 1, 2008. Effectively, the nonimmigrant visa application fee will be
Rs. 5,764. The VFS
service fee of Rs. 322 per passport remains the unchanged. This change in exchange rate also affects all nonimmigrant and immigrant
visa fees.
Previously exchange rate was
revised to Rs. 42
to a US$ from March 12, 2008 and hence the nonimmigrant visa application fee was Rs.
5,502.
Receipts issued by HDFC Bank prior to May 20, 2008 that reflect a payment of Rs. 5,502/- will still be honored and there will be no need for a supplemental payment.
